wan·der·lust now i like the sound of that. can't say that i'll have much chance to travel (ie travelling for exercises are so not counted.) during my 2 years of serving the nation, but one can hope. hope real bad. and with this rather uplifting thought, i bring you the 10 places that i've always wanted to visit... 10) Lyon, France
To witness the world's greatest patissers at their best during Annual Coupe du Monde de la Patesserie or World Pastry Cup. But the real aim is to meet the ultra nice renowned French Master Patisser whom I've had the chance to work with during the Asian Pastry Cup in 2006. ps he was the spiltting image of Albert Einstein, complete with wiry hair and all. :P 9) South Carolina, USA
Okay, this might be rather shallow but the reason I've always wanted to visit South Carolina was to find out if the amazing sceneries and quaint small towns that Nicholas Sparks and Nora Roberts often set their novels in do actually exist. 8) Havana, Cuba
To relive scenes from Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights and to experience a city so diverse and completely different for the safe and unfortunately rather sterile Singapore. Also to get my chance to witness people dancing rumba or salsa on the streets (and hopefully join in). 7) Crete, Greece
To immerse myself in one of civilisation’s most ancient cities and soak in plenty of sun, sand, sea and whitewashed rooftops. Hopefully meet the friendly locals with weatherbeaten and wrinkled faces that brightens up a room when they smile. Hope they speak English too. :P
To make good a promise that didn’t come to light and to fulfil my dream of climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and sing Part Of Your World at the top of my lungs in front of the Opera House. Also plan on staying at one of the quaint bed and breakfasts in Leura while visiting the Blue Mountains.
Besides visiting another bridge, -.-'' I wanna experience in full the big city that feels like a small town. First things to do would to be enjoy fish and chips while watching the sea at Fisherman’s Wharf and taking the cable cars across town. Heard that when fog hits Frisco, it hits hard. That would be a nice experience.
Who wouldn’t want to visit Venice? Praying that I’d be able to plant my feet in Saint Mark’s Square before the city goes under. Being serenaded by gondoliers while cruising around the many canals are a must. (Even if I have to force the poor guy to sing.)
Ah, Barcelona, land of Gaudi. The home of so many iconic landmarks like The La Famille Sagrada and Casa Batllo this is one place that I’d be glad to play the role of a trigger happy tourist. The added bonus of hearing (and attempting to speak) Spanish is definitely welcomed. Hola!
This might be dismissed as another case of “Who wouldn’t want to visit Paris?” (see Venice, but seriously, Who wouldn't want to visit PARIS?!?!) but trust me, its not. I’ve had an infatuation with Paris for as long as I can remember (just don’t ask me why). Probably one of the most if not THE MOST romantic cities in the world, Paris for me is best savoured with a loved one. Imagine strolling down hand in hand from Champ Elysees to Place de la Concorde or watching the Eiffel Tower come to light.
New York, New York! A city so wonderful that they had to call it twice. I have no doubt that this city IS the centre of the world and would die to be a part of it. A city so diverse and so bustling that I can’t help but be drawn to it. This is a city that there’s no need for me to plan ahead, for I’ve already known where I wanna visit. Labels: Travel |
