the 2008 lookback post in slightly more than 6 hours, 2008 will officially become a thing of the past as we welcome 2009. and good riddance to that! This year hasn’t exactly been a fantastic one for me in terms of personal and professional development and I cruised through the first 9 months not accomplishing much. It was also a year marked by feelings of haplessness and some adversity. I guess that’s what happens when the army gets to you. thank god I’d made it through though. But 2008 had its highlights as well, for I fulfilled my quota of taking 3 trips every year and managed to reconnect with some of my primary school friends. I certainly wished that your 2008 was much better and way more fulfilling than mine. if isn’t, well, you definitely have a chance to work on it in the year ahead. Here’s the first of what I hope to be an annual entry whereby I bid farewell to the year that’s ending and hopefully emerge a better person all around in the year ahead. 2008 marked the year in which i... turned 21 and became eligible to vote. Received government subsidy! bid farewell to my home of 10 years and shifted to a brand new abode Lost money in an African casino. Darn. caught sight of a lion and a half-eaten giraffe (or less) Ate Chinese food in the heart of Africa. Surreal. Saw the south African equivalent of San Fran’s golden gate bridge Saw genting through the eyes of a first timer again Started making plans for my future – NTU? UQ? UNSW? Uni of Hawaii? And then went as far as I’d ever go in army. Crossed the halfway mark towards regaining my freedom. YESH! Heralded the return of circus to town Went all out to celebrate the lunar new year Went all out to snap Christmas trees Made new friends lost a friend Reconnected with old, old ones or maybe not. here's to a fruitful 2009. happy new year.
